Routine Maintenance: Keeping the Machine Running Safely & Efficiently
To keep this machine reliable, safe and ready to meet the company’s workload, it is important that the routine maintenance checks below are carried out at the required intervals.
These checks have been put together to help prevent unnecessary breakdowns, reduce unplanned downtime and identify wear or damage before it develops into a more serious problem. A few minutes spent carrying out the correct checks can prevent hours of lost production later.
Please make routine maintenance part of looking after the machine, not something that is only carried out when a problem occurs.
Maintenance Requirements
Filters & Collectors – Weekly
Check and clean all filters and collectors, and ensure collected waste is disposed of correctly.
Gearbox Oil Level – Monthly
Check the gearbox oil level and ensure it is maintained at the correct level.
Blast Vessel – Weekly
Inspect the inside and outside of the blast vessel for corrosion, cracks, dents, bulges or any other signs of damage.
Valves, Hoses, Pipes, Wires & Fittings – Weekly
Check that all components are in good condition and free from leaks, cracks, holes, excessive wear or other damage.
Floor Mats & Grit – Weekly
Inspect floor mats for wear and remove any excess grit from the surrounding area.

Following these simple maintenance instructions will help keep the machine running reliably, maintain a safe working environment and keep production flowing without unnecessary interruption.
If you notice damage, excessive wear, leaks or anything that does not look right, report it. Do not wait for it to become a breakdown.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the machine is switched off and made safe before maintenance or cleaning is carried out.
Shot Blasting Machine: Safe Operation & Operator Awareness
This shot blasting machine must be operated safely, responsibly and with due care and attention at all times. The checks and procedures below are there to protect operators, prevent equipment damage and ensure the machine remains safe and reliable.
Every operator has a responsibility to carry out the required visual checks before using the machine. Never assume that the previous operator has completed them.
Before Every Use
Inspect the hook arm and jig for excessive wear, damage or anything that could affect safe operation.
Inspect the wear plate liners for excessive wear or damage.
Check the internal grit level and ensure it is suitable for operation.
Check the external grit level before starting the machine.
Use two people when loading components onto the jig.
Never exceed the specified machine loading limits:
Maximum hook load: 300 kg
Maximum table load: 2,500 kg
Check the selector switch is in the correct “Hook” mode position before beginning the operating cycle.
The operator must oversee the complete blast cycle. Do not start the machine and leave it unattended. During operation:
Monitor the ammeter and ensure the machine is operating at the correct amperage.
Monitor the timer and ensure the cycle operates, stops and repeats correctly.
Stay Alert While Operating
Operators should remain aware of the machine throughout the complete process. Unusual noises, excessive vibration, unexpected movement, abnormal gauge readings, damaged components or anything that does not look or sound right must not be ignored.
If a fault, defect or unsafe condition is identified, stop using the machine and report it immediately. Do not continue operating the equipment simply to complete the job.
Safety Is Part of the Job
Always wear the appropriate PPE, follow the company’s safe working procedures and operate the equipment only if you have received the appropriate training and authorisation.
These checks only take a short amount of time, but they can help prevent injury, equipment damage, unnecessary breakdowns and disruption to production.
USE THE MACHINE WITH DUE CARE AND ATTENTION.
